Went To Ann’s House

It was raining this morning but hubby and I decided to go to Ann’s house in Burkburnett inspite of the rain. I already told Ann yesterday that we gonna go to their house and visit her. She told me she’s going to cook and we’ll have lunch in her place. When we reached Burkburnett, it wasn’t raining. Hubby said that people there must not be living righteously, he-he! Anyways, when we reached Burk, hubby and I can’t find Ann’s house. It’s my hubby’s first time to go there and it’s only my 2nd time. He kept driving until I noticed that we’ve already gone far. We had to go back and then I called Ann for directions. We were not far from her place she said and she went out in the street so we can see her. So we went to her house and lunch was ready. I brought lumpia and she just fried it. She cooked chicken adobo and spaghetti, pinoy style. It was so good and Ann gave me some to take home. Hubby doesn’t like spaghetti so he just ate rice, adobo and lumpia. By the way, Ann’s hubby Jeff was at work.

Ann had shown us her baby’s room and it’s ready. Her mom-in-law decorated the room. Everything matched and the theme of the room is baby cowgirl, color is brown and pink. Her mom-in-law was so creative and she did good in the decorations. Ann’s baby, Caroline Lyn is due next month.

Sweet Friends

Last Sunday morning, most of the people in our church were asking me how did my citizenship interview go? I told them that it went alright and I have answered all the questions and I passed it. They were all so happy and they congratulated me. I thanked them for all their prayers. If you have read in my previous post, I wrote there that I had requested my church to pray for me and they did. During the evening service last Sunday, Pastor Turner had announced in the church that I passed my citizenship interview and he congratulated me. I really didn’t expect that he will do that and I was elated. Bro. Allen told me to inform him when will be my oath ceremony because he wanted to attend. He said he will not go to work that day because he wanted to cheer for me when I will swear in and say the Oath Of Allegiance. My friend Ann told me that she already asked her mom-in-law to bake a cake for me for that day and decorate it with US flags. It’s so sweet of her.

Well, I’m still waiting for the USCIS to notify me when will be the schedule of my oath ceremony. The past few days I have been gathering information on how to acquire a dual citizenship. This will be the next step that I gonna do after I will get my US citizenship and US passport. I want to retain my Philippine citizenship because hubby and I are planning to go back there in God’s perfect time. I already printed the form in applying for a dual citizenship and when the time comes, I’ll file it to the Philippine Consulate in Houston. I’m glad that they honor dual citizenship in my country.

Celebrating Memorial Day With Our Friends

Today, hubby and I celebrated memorial day by cooking some foods and we invited one couple who are our friends from our church, Bro. Hugh and his wife Ms. Mareta. Bro. Hugh is our Sunday School teacher and he was the one who invited us to go with them on vacation last year in Oklahoma and we attended the Balloon Festival in Tahlequah. They paid the vacation house where we stayed and they were really a blessing to us. We had a good time with them there last year.

My hubby cooked roast beef in the slow cooker and also he prepared potato salad, dinner rolls and he made banana pudding for our dessert while I cooked pancit and lumpia. Hubby and I make a good cooking team! Well, our friends enjoyed the food that we prepared and we had a good time chatting with them after we ate. I gave them foods to take home afterwards. It’s a simple celebration but hubby and I enjoyed the company of our friends.

Lunch With My Hubby’s Co-Workers

My hubby had invited me the other day to attend the Christmas lunch for the teachers and staff in the school where he works. It was my first time to go to his workplace and meet his co-workers. They were all so nice and I ate lunch with them. I got to see Mary and Cathy finally. Mary and I had been sending e-mails to each other and I talked to Cathy on the phone twice. They told me how they love my lumpia and they said they can eat a bunch of them. It just made me smile. I’ve seen the kids gave high five to my hubby. The kids were so cute. Hubby had been receiving gift cards from the kids in the school as Christmas gift. Some gave my hubby shower gel, granola and candy bars. My hubby said that the school where he works now is the best place he’s ever worked in his life. All his co-workers are so nice and friendly and also the kids in that school are so cute. My hubby loves kids and he enjoyed working around them everyday.

Christmas Gifts

Last Sunday afternoon, our friends Jeff and Mary Ann dropped by in our house just to give their Christmas gifts to us. It was so sweet of them to think of us. I didn’t even buy a gift for them. Mary Ann said it’s okay, anyways she said she’s working and I don’t. She broke the good news to me that she’s preggy now. She’s been praying to God to give them a baby and it’s an answered prayer. Ann said her hubby is so happy. I told them that’s the best Christmas gift ever. I told Jeff to take care of Mary Ann and their baby. We took some photos before they left left.

My Good Friend

I got a call from my good friend Dr. Rose Bondoc today. She was on her way to Austin and it’s a long drive and she thought of calling me. I really enjoyed talking to her. She’s a traveling doctor and I met her when she was assigned here in Wichita Falls. I was working at JC Penney that time and she was there shopping. When she’s seen me, she approached me and talked to me. We got to know each other and we’ve learned that her mom and my dad were from the same town in the Philippines. I gave her my phone number and during my off, she came into our house.

Last year, she was again assigned here and she often came to our house and dine with us. Everytime she comes, she brought with her some groceries and also she treated us a few times to a restaurant. She is really sweet and down-to-earth lady. It’s been almost a year now since the last time we’ve seen her and my hubby and I missed her so much. She’s a good friend of ours and although she’s a lady doctor, she has no hang ups. She is humble, friendly and very helpful. I wish there are more people like her.
