Not Feeling Well

My hubby is not feeling well since Christmas. He got colds, cough and slight fever. He’s been taking some over the counter medicines. Last New Year he had fever and he’s been coughing during night time. In the middle of the night he wakes up and can’t go back to sleep. If he takes some medicines and drink calamansi juice he gets better. But the problem with hubby is that if he feels better, he eats ice cream, drink ice cold drinks and sleep in front of a steady fan without a shirt. Too bad. I always tell him not to do it but he’s kinda stubborn so I told him he’s the one suffering the consequences anyway.

I know some people here have caught the bug. One lady in our church have been sick for a few weeks now. She feels the same as hubby, cough, colds and fever. My niece had it first then my nephew. Maybe it’s due to the cool weather, I don’t really know but I hope and pray that hubby will get well soon. Sickness go away in Jesus’ name.

Visa Renewal

Hubby and I went to the immigration office in San Fernando, L.U. last Monday to renew his visa from probationary to a permanent resident visa because it will expire on the 11th of December. The lady there told us before that 3 months before his visa expires we have to renew it. The filing fee was Php2,620 and when it will be amended, we will pay Php7,000. It didn’t take long to file it because I already filled out the form and attached all the requirements before we went there. The drive was two hours from our house. Hubby did the driving you bet. There were no other customers there except us. We were done before lunch. We were told to call their office after 2 months to follow up.

Then hubby drove to find a place to eat lunch. I suggested to him to go to the restaurant in the beach resort to enjoy the fresh air and nice view. So we drove to Nalinac Beach Resort where hubby and I stayed for a a few days more than 7 years ago. We were disappointed that their restaurant is not serving foods these days. So we went to the nearby resort, the Long Beach Resort and we’re glad they are serving foods and they don’t have many customers. Their restaurant is just by the beach so hubby and I enjoyed the view and the cool breeze. I don’t care if the foods there were pricey because you can’t beat the nice view and the fresh, cool air there. It was so relaxing.

I wanted to take some photos but I was so disappointed that I didn’t bring the memory card of my camera. I left it in my other purse when I had some of the photos developed. So we just used my camera phone but then the photos were not as vivid as that from my Canon digicam. Oh well, at least we had some souvenirs. By the way, hubby and I ordered fish steak (tanguigue) with buttered vegetables and a choice of either fries or rice. Hubby chose fries and I chose rice of course. The meal was good, it cost us 560 pesos, pricey compared to fastfood restaurants. Hubby had iced tea and I had water. We didn’t order dessert because we don’t want to gain any more weight, lol!

Hubby Cooks

My hubby cooked our dinner last night. He said he missed his cooking so I let him take over in the kitchen. He prepared his favorite potato salad and he made fish patties from two cans of canned mackerels. After he finished cooking, he prepared the table and called me to eat. Hmmm, he did a good job! His fish patties were so good and also his potato salad. They’re so delicious and nutritious. Yummy, yummy and it filled my tummy!!!

My Hubby Preached Tonight

Our pastor and his wife are out of the state so he assigned my hubby and other preachers to preach in his absence. This morning, it was Bro. Allen who preached and the title of his message was Saving Our Children. I enjoyed listening to his message. He’s a good and lively preacher with a good sense of humor.

Tonight, it was my hubby’s turn to preach. He’s been preparing for it and I’ve been praying for him since I’ve learned that our dear pastor assigned him to preach for tonight. Before we left the house we prayed together that God will bless his message and God will speak through him as he brings his message. I know my hubby is a little bit nervous because he’s not been preaching that often. When he was in the Philippines, he preached many times in our church there so he gained confidence. Here in the US, it’s only once in a while that he preaches.

While my hubby was preaching, I was busy in my seat praying for him. I prayed that God will give him heavenly wisdom, clarity of thoughts and loosen the stummering tongue. I’m the number 1 critic of my hubby and I give him some suggestions on how to improve the way he delivers his message. I suggested to him to speak louder and not to pause for a long period of time. I told him to just keep on talking so the audience will not be bored. So far he delivered his message well tonight. His message by the way was entitled Why Praise God and his text verse was found in Psalm 92:1 which says, "It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to thy name O Most High."

Hubby’s New Haircut

Yesterday, I found time to give my hubby a haircut. Since I’ve been here in the US, I was the one cutting his hair. You might think I’m a hair stylist or what, but no. I never cut a man’s hair before. When I got here in the US, I used to convert the value of the dollar to peso. I told him everything here is expensive when converted to peso. So in order to save money, I volunteered to cut his hair. I was teasing him that he will just give to me the money that he’s supposed to pay to the barber. True indeed, he gave me maybe twice or thrice but now I don’t charge him no more, he-he-he. Not only I’m his barber but I’m also the one cutting his nails. I’ve been doing it since we got married. He never asked me to do it but I volunteered. I’m also his massager. Every time his muscles are sore or tight, I give him the needed massage. Yesterday, after I cut his hair, I cut his fingernails and toenails. Then I gave him a massage in his shoulders because he complained that it’s sore. I have to take care of my hubby because I love him and it’s my duty as a wife to tend to his needs. I like his haircut now. I cut his hair shorter this time. Here’s his new haircut.

Hubby's Lunch

I decided to cook beef steak for our lunch today. But I didn’t fry it, instead I broiled it and I put a lot of onions and garlic and also soy sauce and pepper. I cooked it long until the meat became so tender. I also baked potato for my hubby. We still have the golash and dressing from last night. Then I went to take a shower while I was cooking. The phone rang while I was on the shower and then I heard my hubby leaving a message that he might not come home for lunch. He said he has lots of work to do. After I showered I called him back and told him I wasn’t able to answer the phone because I was taking a bath. I also told him to find time to come home for lunch because I cooked steak and potato for him. He said he will try. I was already done cooking and already blogging when he came home for lunch. He ate the food I cooked and he said the steak is good, so tender and it almost melt in his mouth. I’m glad he likes it.

My Hubby's Birthday

It’s my hubby’s birthday today. We just celebrated it simply at home. He got a lot of phone calls today greeting him a happy birthday. I wanted to cook pancit, lumpia and all those good stuff but since hubby is on a diet, I decided not to. He just cooked beef roast and I cooked beans and prepared veggie salad. I also cooked burger patties and scambled eggs for him this morning. He’s on a low carb diet so no starchy foods for him and no sweets too. He’ll do that for 35 days. He did it last year and he lost a lot of weight. After the diet he gained it back again gradually that’s why he need to go on a diet again. He gave up his coffee and tea while on his diet, also his bread and crackers. He eats more veggie salad, lean meat and beans. I want him to have a healthier body and also more birthdays to come. I love him dearly and I thank God for giving him to me.

My Hubby Preached

George got to preached in our church yesterday night. It was 3 years ago since the last time he preached and that was when we were still in Alvarado. When our pastor here in Wichita Falls learned that George is a licensed and ordained preacher, he said that one of these days he’s gonna let him preach. Last Sunday night after our church service, the pastor talked to George and told him to get ready because he’s gonna preach Wednesday night. My husband has been preparing his message and then he told me that he already got one last Monday. But then he felt that the Lord wanted him to preach another message so he changed it and made another one on Tuesday. I’ve been praying for George everyday to the Lord to give him heavenly wisdom so he can deliver his message with confidence and peace. I prayed to God to use George in a mighty way and I asked the Holy Spirit to be with him as he brings the message. I know it’s not easy to speak infront of many people especially this is his first time to preach in our church here in Wichita Falls and also it’s been a long time since the last time he preached. When we were in the Philippines, our pastor there asked him to preach in our church a number of times. I remember the first time George was asked to preach in our church in the Philippines, the pastor announced to the congregation during Sunday morning service that George is gonna preach in the evening service. So that night, the attendance in our church increased. Our church members who don’t usually attend the evening service came to hear my husband preach. It’s not everyday that they hear and see an American preach in our church so maybe they got curious. The congregation were so quiet and they were listening so intently that you can even here the sound of a needle drop on the floor. I know that George got conscious or maybe a lil’ bit nervous that he didn’t preach that long. But the next time he was asked to preached again, he was already relaxed and preached longer. Last night before we went to church, I suggested to my husband that we should pray first. So we held each other’s hands and prayed to God to be with him as bring his message in the church. We asked God to speak through him and use him as a tool to share God’s word. Before we left I took this photo of him.

We arrived early at the church because I know that George is looking forward to preach and perhaps excited. I’m excited too to hear him preach again so I took a photo of him while we were waiting for the service to begin.

Then I asked my friend Sofia to take a photo of me and George, (napaghahalata talaga ang mahilig magpapicture, lol).

When it was time for my husband to preach, I listened to him but my heart was beating fast. I was the one who was nervous. Before George started his message, he told the congregation first about his life before he got saved and how the good Lord has changed him when he surrendered his life to God. He got saved October 18, 1986 and he was ordained as a preacher August 13, 1989. The title of his message was "Can We Limit God Almighty?" His text verses were Psalms 78: 35-42. He outlined 3 things that limit God. I) Inconsistent Christian living limits God (Isa. 59:2), II) Lack of faith limits God (Matt. 13:58), III) Shallow and selfish prayers limit God (James 4:3). My husband had delivered his message well and it took him maybe more than 30 minutes to preach his message.

After the service, most of our church members came to shake my hubby’s hand and told him his message was a blessing. Well, I shook his hand too and told him, well done my beloved preacher husband. I believe that the Holy Spirit had a free reign and just used my husband to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. George was not really a talker. In fact he is shy and don’t like to be in a big crowd. He said that when he was still a student, he didn’t want to do a book report because he was so shy to speak infront of the class. But now, when it comes to sharing the Word of God, it’s different. He overcame his shyness and become bold in sharing God’s Word and speak infront of the people. That’s the power of God there. He changed people only if they let Him. I took photos while my hubby was preaching but it was not clear as it should be because I had to turn off the flash of my digicam so it won’t distract the attention of the people.
