Want Some Squash Flowers?

I was late in starting my vegetable garden this year. This time last year, I was already harvesting my veggies like the string beans and tomatoes. I got caught up with my blogging and was busy making money online. But my squash give me lots of flowers every morning. As I wake up, my destination is my garden to pick up the flowers. But I have to be careful with the bees. There were lots of them inside the flowers eating the pollen. I have been bitten by a bee way back in the Philippines and it really hurt. I don’t want it to happen again. While I was talking with my brother online yesterday, I showed him in the webcam the squash flowers that I harvested from my garden. He was so impressed. He said, squash flowers cost P10 a bundle in the and it’s just a few. I told him if only I can send to him some of my flowers, he-he! Below are the photos of my squash and its flowers. You want some? Just come by and pick in my garden.

More Veggies

I got to harvest my squash this morning and I’m so happy because they’re big ones. I planted 2 kinds of squash, mexican and filipino squash. The Mexican squash are smaller in size and the filipino squash are bigger. I already cooked some of the Mexican squash and they’re good ones. I gathered a bunch of squash flowers everyday and my ref is already full of it now. I already put in the freezer a bunch of it.

My husband said a couple of weeks ago that all he can see are all squash flowers and he asked me when will I harvest squash. So when he got home today from work and saw the 2 big squash in the counter top, he asked me where did I get those. I told him from my garden. He haven’t seen those squash in the garden because they’ve been covered with the leaves. I will have to chop those squash and put some of it in the freezer because I can’t cook all of them for now. I will save some for the winter when there will be no more veggies in my garden. By the way, I made tomato salsa out of those tomatoes from my garden and it turned out good. My hubby love it. View my veggies here.

Harvest Time

I’ve been harvesting my veggies and I even shared to my Filipina friends tomatoes, string beans, okra, lettuce, green beans and squash flowers. This morning, I harvested again more of my veggies. In fact I cooked "dinengdeng" today and I really love it. All my veggies are organic, no pesticides, herbicides and no fertilizers. Hmm, I save money because organic vegetables are so expensive. I can hardly afford it so it’s best to grow my own vegetable garden. My garden provides me fresh veggies everyday and I’m lovin’ it.
