Hubby and I went to the immigration office in San Fernando, L.U. last Monday to renew his visa from probationary to a permanent resident visa because it will expire on the 11th of December. The lady there told us before that 3 months before his visa expires we have to renew it. The filing fee was Php2,620 and when it will be amended, we will pay Php7,000. It didn’t take long to file it because I already filled out the form and attached all the requirements before we went there. The drive was two hours from our house. Hubby did the driving you bet. There were no other customers there except us. We were done before lunch. We were told to call their office after 2 months to follow up.
Then hubby drove to find a place to eat lunch. I suggested to him to go to the restaurant in the beach resort to enjoy the fresh air and nice view. So we drove to Nalinac Beach Resort where hubby and I stayed for a a few days more than 7 years ago. We were disappointed that their restaurant is not serving foods these days. So we went to the nearby resort, the Long Beach Resort and we’re glad they are serving foods and they don’t have many customers. Their restaurant is just by the beach so hubby and I enjoyed the view and the cool breeze. I don’t care if the foods there were pricey because you can’t beat the nice view and the fresh, cool air there. It was so relaxing.
I wanted to take some photos but I was so disappointed that I didn’t bring the memory card of my camera. I left it in my other purse when I had some of the photos developed. So we just used my camera phone but then the photos were not as vivid as that from my Canon digicam. Oh well, at least we had some souvenirs. By the way, hubby and I ordered fish steak (tanguigue) with buttered vegetables and a choice of either fries or rice. Hubby chose fries and I chose rice of course. The meal was good, it cost us 560 pesos, pricey compared to fastfood restaurants. Hubby had iced tea and I had water. We didn’t order dessert because we don’t want to gain any more weight, lol!

Went To Ann’s House
Posted by Lisa at 4:50 PMIt was raining this morning but hubby and I decided to go to Ann’s house in Burkburnett inspite of the rain. I already told Ann yesterday that we gonna go to their house and visit her. She told me she’s going to cook and we’ll have lunch in her place. When we reached Burkburnett, it wasn’t raining. Hubby said that people there must not be living righteously, he-he! Anyways, when we reached Burk, hubby and I can’t find Ann’s house. It’s my hubby’s first time to go there and it’s only my 2nd time. He kept driving until I noticed that we’ve already gone far. We had to go back and then I called Ann for directions. We were not far from her place she said and she went out in the street so we can see her. So we went to her house and lunch was ready. I brought lumpia and she just fried it. She cooked chicken adobo and spaghetti, pinoy style. It was so good and Ann gave me some to take home. Hubby doesn’t like spaghetti so he just ate rice, adobo and lumpia. By the way, Ann’s hubby Jeff was at work.
Ann had shown us her baby’s room and it’s ready. Her mom-in-law decorated the room. Everything matched and the theme of the room is baby cowgirl, color is brown and pink. Her mom-in-law was so creative and she did good in the decorations. Ann’s baby, Caroline Lyn is due next month.

Trip To San Antonio
Posted by Lisa at 9:38 AMMy hubby and I just got back yesterday from a week vacation. We went to Alvarado last Monday and we headed to San Antonio together with our friends, Bro. Jesse & Ms. Sue Garner last Friday and spent the night there. It was my first time to go to San Antonio, the second largest city in Texas, next to Houston. We’ve been planning to go there last fall but we decided to postponed it this month because George got a week vacation with pay. There were lots of people there because it was spring break. The weather was great, it was in the 60’s and 70’s. This city is a tourist spot and we had to pay just to park the car and then took a walk and go around the tourist attractions. The parking fee near the Alamo is from $10 to $12 so we had to look for a cheaper parking area and we found one that charged only $5 but it’s a little bit farther.
We went first to see The Alamo and the line was too long just to go look inside. We can’t wait that long so we just took photos infront of the building and also at the back there’s a nice garden with flowers blooming. Then we went to eat in a steak house and after eating we went to see the Riverwalk. The view there is really spectacular and we rode the boat. We had a great time looking around at those tall and great architectural designs of the buildings around the Riverwalk. The boat’s driver is the tour guide and gave us all the informations about those buildings. After the ride we took some photos and went back to our hotel. Then at night we went back to The Alamo and The Riverwalk again and to our surprise, there were more people in The Riverwalk at night. That place was so crowded and all the restaurants by the Riverwalk were all jampacked. We ended up eating in a Mexican restaurant by the Riverwalk and foods there cost more.
The next day we drove around downtown San Antonio and we went to see the Hemisfair Park and the Historical Parks. Tower of the Americas is under renovation. Then we went to the Market Square and had a great time looking around those Mexican stuff on display in the stores. Mostly, they sell items from Mexico. That place reminded me of the market place in Baguio City and downtown San Antonio reminds me of Intramuros, Manila. I’ve seen tourists riding carriages pulled by horses and go around downtown during daytime and night time. San Antonio has its scenic beauty, no wonder a lot of people go there. I really enjoyed this trip and we had a good time. Here are some of the photos.

A Trip To Dallas
Posted by Lisa at 9:56 AMnThe day after Christmas my hubby and I went to the Immigration office in Dallas with Robert, Shelly and Josh to take care of my papers to lift the conditional status of my permanent residency here in the US. Robert drove for us. Imagine, I filed the form last May 22 and it got approved Dec 5. They’re too slow in processing papers. It says in the letter that I have to appear in there office to present my passport and submit 3 photos. It was not stated that I have to make an appointment before going there so we decided to go after Christmas since it’s a shorter trip going to Dallas from Alvarado rather than coming from Wichita Falls. There were quite a few people in the line when we got there.
When it was my turn the lady in the window asked me if I got an appointment and I told her no because it did not say in the letter to make an appointment before going there. She said I have to make an appointment in the Infopass thru the internet and they’ve been doing that for 3 years now. I know that they have this Infopass to make an appointment but since it did not say in the letter I decided not to. I already felt disappointed at that time, then she asked me where I came from and I told her from Wichita Falls. She asked how far is it and my husband answered maybe about 200 miles. She then wanted to see an ID as a proof of our address so my hubby showed her his driver’s license. So she let us in because we came from a far place. Oh man! I was glad that she finally let me in. All the rest in the line had to come back.
Just after I got in, my number was called so I went to the window. The lady only asked me 2 photos but in the letter it said 3 photos. That’s a waste of money for the photos since Walgreens do it by 2’s or by 4’s so we paid for 4 photos. Then after everything is done, they got my signature, fingerprints and my old greencard and marked my passport the lady in the window told me that they will mail my greencard good for 10 years within 3 to 6 months. Isn’t that too long to wait and to think that everything here is computerized? They’re slow as turtles. The good thing is I still can travel outside the US because they marked my passport but I don’t intend to unless I get my new greencard. After everything is done Robert drove us back but we stopped for lunch in a fastfood restaurant in Euless and Robert paid our lunch. Robert by the way is Shelly’s husband and he makes good and delicious beef jerky and I really like it.
I was really glad that everything went on smoothly and our trip to Dallas didn’t go to nothing. I thank God for that because the night before, I prayed that we will accomplish our purpose in going there and that everything will go smoothly. To God be the glory…
